Fix Your KitchenAid Blender Coupling

10/19/2011 11:23:16 AM

Fixing a KitchenAid blender coupling can be easily done without any outside assistance. All you need is a new coupling which you can find from our collection of KitchenAid blender parts and a few tools. Listed below are supplies that you will need and simple steps that you can take to fix your blender:

Supplies

Instructions

  1. When your blender is not spinning or it makes a grinding sound in an attempt to spin, it may be the coupling which often fails overtime. To begin the process you will first need to remove all accessories from your blender.

  2. After removing all of the blender's accessories you must take off the damaged coupling. Insert the flat bladed screw driver underneath the coupling, lift upwards, twist your screw driver, and turn your old coupling a quarter of an inch with each twist.

  3. Once the old coupling has been loosened enough it will reach a point where you will be able to simply pry it off with the screw driver. Now you can get rid of this old thing!

  4. Before putting on the new coupling take a look at the spindle. If you see any old threads on the spindle gently remove them with the screw driver.

  5. Now you can thread on the new coupling onto the blender, which happens to be a reverse thread. The coupling only has to be hand tight; when you use the blender it will tighten up after it has been used.

I've ordered over five of these in a two year period. why not just make them out of metal, instead of plastic which always seems to crack?

This worked really well. I was able to salvage my blender with a new coupling in under 10 minutes
